Korean American violinist Danny Koo ’14, ’16 MM made his debut at Carnegie Hall this season, appearing for the first time in the venue’s intimate Zankel Hall. Known for his dynamic stage presence and broad reach across both the international concert stage and Korean media, Koo continues to build a reputation for combining artistic depth with a contemporary, audience-focused vision.

For the performance, Koo was joined by pianist James Jaewon Moon and the chamber collective Ensemble Edge in a program that blends Romantic lyricism, cinematic flair, and Latin American tango influences. The evening opened with Amy Beach’s Romance, Op. 23, followed by selections from Much Ado About Nothing by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

The program also featured a virtuosic concert fantasy by Igor Frolov based on themes from George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, before concluding with the rhythmic intensity of Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Argentine tango master Astor Piazzolla.

Koo’s debut at Carnegie Hall marks another milestone for the violinist, whose performances have attracted international audiences through concert appearances, recordings, and media projects. With a program that moves fluidly between classical tradition and modern expressive styles, the concert highlights Koo’s distinctive artistic voice and his commitment to presenting classical music in fresh and engaging way.
