Leona Cheung ‘18 MM, ‘20 GD Awarded Boston Opportunity Fund

Leona Cheung '18 MM, '20 GD has been awarded the Opportunity Fund by the City of Boston in support of her upcoming recital, When Poetry Sings: Voices from the Far East. Leona will be accompanied by Angela Yam '21 GD and Zizhao Wang '18, '20 MM, '21 GD

The performance will take place on May 8 at the Pao Arts Center in Boston's Chinatown and will feature Cheung alongside two fellow NEC alumni singers.

A pianist, collaborative artist, and vocal coach, Cheung is passionate about connecting people through music and creating performances that celebrate cultural storytelling. Her musical background spans piano performance, choral collaboration, and vocal repertoire, with a particular affinity for art song and community-centered performance.

In recent years, Cheung has expanded her work beyond the concert stage through community outreach events, virtual performances, and educational music programs for local schools. Her work reflects a deep commitment to accessibility, collaboration, and cultivating the next generation of musicians.

When Poetry Sings: Voices from the Far East continues that mission, offering a program that highlights the expressive intersection of poetry, song, and cultural heritage.
