Claire Park '23, '25 MM Wins NEC’s Lower Strings Chamber Orchestra Competition

Alumna Claire Park ’23, ’25 MM has been named the winner of NEC’s Lower Strings Chamber Orchestra Competition.  As the competition’s winner, Claire will take the stage in Jordan Hall on Wednesday, April 9, to perform Joseph Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major, Hob. VIIb:1 with the NEC Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Artistic Director Donald Palma.

A dedicated and accomplished musician, Park earned her Bachelor’s degree from NEC, where she studied with renowned cellist Laurence Lesser. She is also furthering her education at NEC by pursuing a Master's degree in Cello Performance. Her musical achievements include being a finalist in the 2018 Mondavi Center Young Artists National Competition, where she was awarded the Bernstein Prize.

Beyond her solo work, Park is an active chamber musician. She has performed with the A Far Cry Chamber Ensemble and recently took the stage at the NEC Honors String Quartet Recital, further solidifying her reputation as a rising star in the classical music world.
