Elizabeth Kleiber ’23 Wins Flute Position with Minnesota Opera Orchestra

Alumna Elizabeth Kleiber ’23 has been appointed Second Flute and Piccolo with the Minnesota Opera Orchestra, marking a major step in her flourishing musical career.

A Minneapolis native, Kleiber recently earned her Master of Music from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, studying with Marianne Gedigian. She also holds a Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory, where she studied under Cynthia Meyers of the Boston Symphony.

Kleiber is an accomplished soloist and chamber musician, with performances at Rice, NEC, and Jordan Hall. In Minnesota, she has appeared on the Salon se Lève concert series and performed for Classical MPR’s Minnesota Varsity and at the Fitzgerald Theater. She has earned top honors in major competitions, including first prize in the 2023 Schubert Club Scholarship Competition and the 2022 James Pappoutsakis Competition.

Her orchestral experience includes work with ensembles at Rice, NEC, and the National Repertory Orchestra, under the direction of renowned conductors such as Leonard Slatkin and Karina Canellakis. This summer, she will be a fellow at the Music Academy of the West.

Her new position with the Minnesota Opera Orchestra brings her back to her roots and highlights her growing presence in the national classical music scene.
