
Denise Tryon '93 wins 2022 American Prize in Instrumental Performance

Congratulations to NEC alumna Denise Tryon '93 for winning the 2022 American Prize in Instrumental Performance for her album Hope Springs Eternal!
The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts is designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, directors, ensembles and composers in the United States at professional, college/university, community and high school levels, based on submitted recordings. Denise received her Bachelor's Degree from New England Conservatory in French Horn Performance, and received the Presidential Scholarship while in NEC's Artist Diploma program with the Taiyo Wind Quintet. She also graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy.
Since 2018, Denise Tryon is the Associate Professor of Horn at University of Cincinnati CCM. She served as Horn Professor of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore from 2007–2019. In 2019, Tryon became the 4th horn of the world renowned American Horn Quartet. Previously, Tryon was fourth horn of The Philadelphia Orchestra (2009-2017), The Detroit Symphony (2003-2009) and second horn of The Baltimore Symphony (2000-2003).
