Josaphat Contreras '22 MM Wins 1st Place at the National Opera Association Conference

Congratulations to Josaphat Contreras '22 MM for winning 1st place at the National Opera Association Conference on January 6th! Josaphat was 1 of 18 competitors selected to present a poster at the conference. His presentation, “Can Opera be folk Music? The historical connection and application
between Opera and Mexican Mariachi Folk Music” was a cumulative representation of the work he completed in the last 2 1/2 years, including 2 years earning his master's degree at NEC. Josaphat did all of the quantitative study portion at NEC in the Voice Pedagogy Lab, with the help of Dr. Ian Howell and Kayla Gautereaux.
