Frank London '80 featured in The New York Times

On May 29th, The New York Times published an article about NEC alumnus and renowned musician Frank London '80. The article dives into Frank's established resume alongside his journey battling cancer. The trumpeter, composer, and bandleader has collaborated with artists from Mel Tormé to LL Cool J. Frank is also a founding member of the Klezmatics, a band that helped to "revitalize the klezmer style" during the late ’80s. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance from NEC in 1980, where Contemporary Improvisation Co-Chair and alumnus, Hankus Netsky ’76, ’78 MM, introduced him to "a then-unknown world of Jewish music."

Frank's fight with myelofibrosis, a chronic form of leukemia, has not slowed down his work as he has two new albums coming soon. In order to celebrate, Frank planned a party in NYC featuring the Klezmatics alongside three of his bands: Conspiracy Brass, the Elders, and Klezmer Brass Allstars. This celebration, that happened yesterday, was only missing Frank himself, as he has been hospitalized for his cancer treatment. He shares in the article:

“I’m thinking about now, thinking about finishing these projects. And I don’t think much past that, because I’m not going to waste a day where I feel good.”
