
Peau Halapua '02 MM Contributes Music to 2024 Movie, Grafted
Alumna Peau Halapua '02 MM has contributed her musical talents to the 2024 film, Grafted. A skilled composer and violinist, Peau brings a unique blend of musical traditions to the film's score, enhancing its emotional and narrative elements.
A highly accomplished violinist from a young age, Peau began her professional career at 14 and went on to graduate with honors from The University of Auckland, where she was named a senior scholar. She continued her advanced studies at The Australian National Academy of Music’s Advanced Performers Programme. Her pursuit of excellence later brought her to the United States, where she earned a Master of Music in Violin Performance from NEC in 2002.
In addition to her work on Grafted, Peau’s recent projects showcase her diverse range. She has performed on stage with artists such as L.A.B., TEEKS, Tami Neilson, and Sol3Mio, and contributed to the soundtrack of films like Juniper, Mothers Of The Revolution, and Joika. Since 2021, she has expanded into composition and orchestration, writing string arrangements for BOUDICA’s single "She Is Me" and Majic Pāora’s Hei Mokimoki and Hikaia ngā ahi o Matariki. Peau also arranged and orchestrated music for the play ÉMILIE.
