NEC proudly congratulates flutist and author Ernestine Whitman '73 MM on her recent honor in the prestigious NYC Big Book Award. The NYC Big Book Award, known for its rigorous selection process, is judged by a diverse panel of publishing experts including writers, editors, booksellers, and librarians. Entries from around the globe competed this year and displayed representation from countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Prior to retiring in 2011, Ernestine served 33 years on the flute faculty of Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. She received her Master of Music in Flute Performance from NEC in 1973. She also went on to receive her Doctor of Musical Arts in Flute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
