
Dr. Andrew Scott ’00 MM Named Music Educator of the Year
Dr. Andrew Scott ’00 MM has been honored as the 2024 Music Educator of the Year by the Toronto Musicians’ Association, recognizing his outstanding impact on music, education, and the arts community.
As Professor of Music at Humber College, Andrew leads Music Business and Marketing programs. He also serves as the Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Music Program. He has previously held roles as Associate Dean and Acting Dean of Humber’s School of Creative and Performing Arts, overseeing programs in music, creative writing, arts administration, theatre, and comedy.
As a musician, writer, journalist, and arts educator, Andrew’s work has impacted the creative arts and culture space in Canada and beyond for more than three decades. An accomplished jazz guitarist, he has performed and recorded with renowned musicians such as Bernie Senensky, Dan Block, Harry Allen, Grant Stewart, Ben Paterson, Randy Sandke, and Jon-Erik Kellso. His music has been featured on labels including Cellar Live, Marshmallow, and Sackville Records, and his latest album, Horizon Song, recorded with Kelsley Grant, Amanda Tosoff, Neil Swainson, and Order of Canada recipient Terry Clarke, was released on Cellar Live in 2024.
Andrew’s work extends into arts advocacy and consultancy as an independent juror for the Toronto Arts Foundation. His creative talents also include comedic writing, published on platforms like The Haven, as well as poetry, featured in anthologies such as Resist the Zeitgeist.
