Michael Rogers ’24 MM Appointed to the United States Marine Band

Percussionist Michael Rogers ’24 MM has been appointed to “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, joining the ensemble as a Staff Sergeant. Based in Washington, D.C., Rogers now performs with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra at the White House and throughout the country on the ensemble’s National Concert Tour.

A native of Arlington, Texas, Rogers began studying percussion at age 11 and graduated from Martin High School in 2017. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Texas in 2022, studying with Paul Rennick, Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, Will Hudgins, Matthew McKay, Daniel Bauch, and Matthew Strauss. He completed his Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory in 2024.

Prior to joining the Marine Band, Rogers performed with major orchestras including the Houston Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and Kansas City Symphony. From 2018 to 2021, he was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, contributing to the ensemble’s 2018 Drum Corps International World Championship and Fred Sanford Awards for Best Percussion Performance in 2018 and 2019.

Rogers has also participated in several prestigious music festivals, including the Round Top Festival Institute (2023), the Tanglewood Music Festival (2024), and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra (2025).
