Sally Mingyan Yu ’21 Named Semi-Finalist in Siemens–Hallé International Conductors Competition

Sally Mingyan Yu ’21 MM has been selected as one of eight shortlisted semi-finalists in the prestigious Siemens–Hallé International Conductors Competition, to be held this March in Manchester, United Kingdom. The highly competitive international event brings together emerging conductors from around the world to compete for a transformative professional opportunity with one of the UK’s leading orchestras.

The winner of the competition will be appointed Assistant Conductor of the Hallé for a three-year term, working closely with the orchestra’s Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor, Kahchun Wong. The role offers extensive artistic and professional development, providing the successful candidate with meaningful podium experience and an invaluable platform to build an international conducting career.

The Siemens–Hallé International Conductors Competition reflects a longstanding partnership between the Hallé and Siemens AG, the global technology company, which has collaborated with the orchestra for over two decades.
