Yebin Yoo ’22, ’24 MM to Perform in the Semi-Finals of the Windsor Festival International String Competition
Violinist Yebin Yoo ’22, ’24 MM has been selected as one of 12 elite international semifinalists for the 10th Windsor Festival International String Competition in England. Chosen from an applicant pool spanning 35 countries, the South Korean-born performer will present a 25-minute recital before a distinguished jury as she competes for prizes valued at over £40,000, including cash, a recording package, and UK concert engagements.
Yoo first drew major international attention at age 16 as the youngest-ever winner of the Gisborne International Music Competition. She further honed her artistry at NEC, studying under renowned violinist Miriam Fried and earning both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. During her time at NEC, Yoo also won the school's 2023–2024 Violin Concerto Competition, performing as a featured soloist with the NEC Philharmonia.
The live semifinal rounds will take place in Windsor on September 29 and 30, 2026. From there, three musicians will be selected to advance to the Grand Finale on October 2, 2026 at Eton College’s historic School Hall, where they will perform a full concerto alongside the Orpheus Sinfonia.
