Composer Sean Callery ’87 Takes Home Emmy Award

The NEC community extends its warmest congratulations to alumnus Sean Callery ’87, who has won the 2026 Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special (Original Dramatic Score). Callery was recognized alongside co-composer Sara Barone at the 78th Emmy Awards for their evocative dramatic score on the Netflix thriller series The Beast in Me, specifically for the episode "The Beast And Me."

This prestigious win adds another major accolade to Callery’s distinguished career as one of Hollywood's leading television and film composers. Renowned for his pulse-pounding, tension-filled scoring on landmark series such as 24, Homeland, Bones, and Jessica Jones, Callery received his Bachelor of Music degree from NEC in 1987.

Callery and Barone took top honors in a highly competitive category that included prominent composers such as Jeff Beal (All Her Fault), Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans (Black Rabbit), Thomas Newman (In the Blink of an Eye), and Cameron Moody (Washington Black).
