Alumni Erica Petrocelli '14 '16 MM '18 AD and Anthony León '21 MM Receive 2025 Eva and Marc Stern Artist Award

Soprano Erica Petrocelli ’14 ‘16 MM ‘18 AD and tenor Anthony León '21 MM have been named the 2025 recipients of the Eva and Marc Stern Artist Award, a $25,000 prize recognizing emerging opera talents with deep ties to LA Opera. The award will assist the artists with career expenses such as language studies, travel, coaching, and preparation.

Petrocelli, currently with the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich, made her European debut as Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore and has performed several roles at LA Opera, including Musetta in La bohème and Eurydice in the world premiere of Eurydice. A 2018 Metropolitan Opera National Council semi-finalist, she has also appeared with Odyssey Opera and the Santa Fe Opera.

León, a rising star in the opera world, has won prestigious awards including the 2024 Richard Tucker Career Grant and the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Recently, he debuted at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and performed with the Chicago Symphony and LA Philharmonic. As a former member of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program, he has performed leading roles in Don Giovanni, Otello, and more at LA Opera.
