Dr. Frank Sacks ’73 Awarded Keynote Speaker at American Heart Association Conference

Dr. Frank Sacks ’73, a recently retired Harvard professor and leading expert in cardiovascular disease prevention, will deliver the keynote address at the American Heart Association’s (AHA) annual conference, where he will also receive the organization’s top annual award.

Dr. Sacks served as Professor of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. A pioneer in nutrition and cardiovascular research, he led major clinical trials—including the landmark DASH study—and made key discoveries about cholesterol metabolism and heart disease risk. His work has shaped national dietary guidelines and public health policy.

Over his career, Dr. Sacks has published more than 300 scientific papers, led influential committees for the AHA and National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, and received the AHA’s 2011 Research Achievement Award. His keynote will celebrate a lifetime of contributions to cardiovascular science and health.
