Sooyun Kim ’04, ’07 MM, ’09 GD Appointed New Position at University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) has announced the appointment of Sooyun Kim ’04, ’07 MM, ’09 GD as its new Assistant Professor of Flute. Her faculty position will officially begin on August 15, 2025.

Kim has garnered international acclaim for her artistry, earning praise from Libération as “a rare virtuoso of the flute.” She began her career with a concerto debut at age 10 with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and has since appeared with major orchestras including the Bavarian Radio Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, Boston Pops, and KBS Symphony. Her recital venues span the globe, from Budapest’s Liszt Hall to the Kennedy Center and Seoul Arts Center. Notably, her European debut at the Louvre Museum was broadcast live on medici.tv.

Kim brings a uniquely interdisciplinary approach to her artistry and pedagogy, having collaborated with visual artists, dance troupes, and cultural institutions such as the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Denmark’s Glassmuseet Ebeltoft. She studied with Paula Robison at NEC and received training in Baroque Dance from Melinda Sullivan. In addition to her teaching at Orford Musique, she has held a faculty position at the Longy School of Music of Bard College.
