Jaewon Wee ’23 GD wins the Mirecourt International Violin Competition

Congratulations to NEC alumna Jaewon Wee ’23 GD who won first place in the Mirecourt International Violin Competition in France this past week. The first place prize consists of €5,000, a bow designed by Gabriel Pasquier, a two-year loan of a violin by David Wiedmer, and the Opéra national de Lorraine’s Orchestra Prize. 

In 2022, Jaewon placed second at the 37th Klein International String Competition, and first at the Washington International Competition. Jaewon also completed a Bachelor’s Degree from Korea National University of Arts, along with a Master’s Degree from the Juilliard School. Jaewon studied Violin Performance at NEC and received her Graduate Diploma in 2023.
