NEC Alumni selected for the Merola Opera's 2024 Emerging Artists

Congratulations to NEC alumni Ji Youn Lee '20, Sujin Choi '23 GD, and Kara Morgan '16 MM on being selected for the Merola Opera's 2024 Emerging Artists. The Merola Opera Program announced the 2024 season's 29 emerging artists, which were selected from more than 1,300 international applicants.

Ji Youn Lee '20 is a pianist and coach from Seoul, South Korea. She has won several competitions such as the Music Academy of the West Duo Competition and the New England Conservatory Concerto Competition. Ji Youn received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from NEC in 2020.

Sujin Choi '23 GD is also a pianist and coach from Seoul, South Korea. Some of her major productions are La Calisto, La bohème, and L'arbore di Diana. Sujin recieved a Graduate Diploma in Collaborative Piano from NEC last year, and is currently fulfilling another.

Kara Morgan '16 MM is a vocalist from Andover, Minnesota. She placed first in many competitions such as the Opera Tampa D'Angelo Young Artist Vocal Competition and the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Kara received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from NEC in 2016.
