Dr. Christopher Bush ’01, ’03 MM Joins NEC as Director of Adult Education and Summer Programs

Dr. Christopher Bush ’01, ’03 MM has joined NEC as Director of Adult Education and Summer Programs. Christopher has an impressive performance background, currently serving as Principal Clarinet with the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra and the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra. He has been apart of many ensembles, including the Harlem Chamber Players and Seoul Philharmonic. He has performed on prestigious stages worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and NEC’s Jordan Hall.

In addition to his performance credentials, Christopher has dedicated more than 25 years to teaching the next generation of musicians. His tenure at renowned institutions includes more than 15 years on the faculty at New York University. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2001 and his Master of Music degree in 2003 from NEC, both in Clarinet Performance.

Liyuan Xie ’22 Named First Associate Concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra

Violinist and alumnus Liyuan Xie ’22 has been appointed the Cleveland Orchestra’s first Associate Concertmaster. Liyuan joined the Cleveland Orchestra as a second violinist in August 2023 and will begin his new appointment on June 29 at the start of the Blossom Music Festival. As Associate Concertmaster, he will hold the Virginia M. Linseth, PhD, Chair.Liyuan received his Bachelor of Music degree
