Joshua Weilerstein '09, '11 MM Conducts Composition by Abigale Reisman '13 MM

On September 5, alumnus Joshua Weilerstein '09, '11 MM will conduct the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring three works, including a new piece composed by fellow NEC alumna Abigale Reisman '13 MM.

Joshua was Chief Conductor of the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra for the 2023-2024 season, and will assume the position of Music Director of Orchestre National de Lille for the 2024-2025 season. Previously, Joshua was Artistic Director of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne from 2015 until 2021. He conducts regularly in Scandinavia, France, Belgium, Spain, Holland, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Joshua received his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance in 2009 and his Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting in 2011 from NEC.

Abigale is a violinist, composer, improviser, and educator. She is a co-founder of Thread Ensemble, an experimental trio that creates music through interactions with their audiences. She is also a member of Tredici Bacci, which was featured in Rolling Stone's "10 Artists You Need to Know: November 2016." She is a composer, arranger, and performer in the International Jewish Music Festival award-winning band, Ezekiel's Wheels Klezmer Band. Abigale received her Master of Music in Contemporary Musical Arts in 2013 from NEC.
