Rachael Price ’07 Performs on The Late Show with Musical Partner Vilray Bolles
Alumna Rachael Price ’07 brought vintage flair and heartfelt storytelling to national television with a performance of the song “Off Broadway" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. She was joined by her longtime musical partner Vilray Bolles, who also studied at NEC in 2003.
Performing as the acclaimed duo Rachael & Vilray, the pair delivered a warm, jazz-inflected number that reflects their signature sound which is rich in nostalgia, humor, and the intimacy of mid-century American song. The performance previewed music from their upcoming album West of Broadway, which expands their arrangements into a lush octet setting while preserving the close connection at the heart of their act.
Rachael & Vilray began collaborating after Price heard Bolles perform a short set of covers and immediately wanted to join forces. Since then, they’ve cultivated a repertoire of original songs that channel the style and spirit of the Great American Songbook. Whether performing as a duo or with a full ensemble, they bring a uniquely personal touch to the stage, often singing directly to one another and sharing stories behind the music.
Their Late Show appearance marks another milestone for the duo, whose blend of old-school charm and modern originality continues to captivate audiences across generations.
