Joshua Weilerstein '09, '11 MM appointed Music Director of Orchestre National de Lille

Conductor and NEC alumnus Joshua Weilerstein '09, '11 MM '10 has been named Music Director of Orchestre National de Lille. Joshua will begin his tenure in September 2024. He will succeed Alexandre Bloch, who is currently at the head of the ONL.

Joshua most recently served as the Music Director of Boston's Phoenix, as well as the Artistic Director of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne from 2015-2021 and as Chief Conductor of the Aalborg Symphony. In past seasons he has conducted the London Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, and New York Philharmonic, amongst many others.

Joshua received a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from NEC, studying with Lucy Chapman and Hugh Wolff.
